Oldbury Power Station Location: Oldbury Naite, BS35, United Kingdom Service: Structural assessment Team Client: BNFL Magnox Description The construction of the power station began in 1961 and electricity generation started in 1967. Oldbury was the first nuclear power station in the UK to use pre-stressed concrete pressure vessels, earlier Magnox reactors having used steel pressure vessels more suited to smaller reactors. Project Design Kashec carried out a structural assessment of the existing structures for this scheme. We checked the structural capacity of the turbine loading bay for plant and abnormal transporter loads.
