The
construction
of
the

station
began
in
1961
and
electricity generation started in 1967.
Oldbury
was
the
first
nuclear
power
station
in
the
UK
to
use
pre-stressed
concrete
pressure
vessels,
earlier
Magnox
reactors
having
used
steel
pressure
vessels
more
suited
to
smaller reactors.
Project Design
Kashec
carried
out
a
structural
assessment
of
the
existing
structures for this scheme.
We
checked
the
structural
capacity
of
the
turbine
loading
bay for plant and abnormal transporter loads.
